A global oil and gas/energy commodities trading company is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to review and align revenue and cost of revenue, financial derivatives instruments based on business operations, and to do all monthly reporting for the entity. You’ll manage all aspects of financial accounting and control.
This role is predominantly office based (Central London office Monday-Thursday and work from home Friday). The role is paying £70,000-£100,000 DOE and offers great benefits including discretionary bonus, 10% non-contributory pension, 25 days holiday and private healthcare)
Responsibilities:

Review and control the reports of trade settlements and other activities by the company and ensure that financial statements and all related reports are completed as per stipulated timeframe

Control all entities month-end timetable and posting of month-end journals for actuals and accrual
transactions, including depreciation run, exchange revaluation.

Review of financial statement for group reporting.

Review of Month-end Reports, posting of Journal Entries.

Control monthly financial report through conducting revenue and costs analysis of business operation strategy and secondary costs associated with business activities for the purpose of reporting to the
management of entities.

Review Fixed Asset Register and monthly inventory management.

Control and monitor data and operational accounting i.e. trade accounts and derivatives accounting i.e.
trade finance utilization.

Control maintenance review of both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to ensure proper and accurate data are captured in the accounts and timely ageing report produced with thorough review every month.

Control the yearly financial audit exercise and activities according to the plan and ensure pre-audit work is done in comprehensive manner to allow for a smooth audit and complete with the stipulated timeframe, Including preparing statutory financial statements as per IFRS. Influence overall audit process until completion and review board paper for presentation to the Management.

Control the overall process to adopt relevant accounting standards through assessment of the implications of terms of recognition, measurement and disclosure of any revision or new Financial Reporting Standard to ensure compliance to Group Accounting Guidelines, FRS and relevant statutory requirements.

Facilitate and control testing for Financial Control Framework twice yearly for Group reporting accordingly and to ensure that the effectiveness of testing are relevant and updates based on changes in business, enhancement in practices or system.

Plan and review availability and timely update of records and documents in Document Management System for easy and organized reference in the company, as well as to ensure compliance to business processes, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/ Finance / Banking or equivalent.
- Recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA or equivalent). Big four experience will be an advantage.
- Significant (5+ years) relevant and recent experience in accounting functions within the oil/gas/energy industry
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, audit practices and regulatory requirements.
- Working knowledge of system and procedures development/compliance.
- Strong SAP system knowledge including other integrated modules is required.
