A growing law firm based in Liverpool is seeking an experienced Legal Clerk to support the continued growth of the practice and be responsible for the day-to-day management of the court diary, allocation of incoming instructions, liaison with clients and courts, and ensuring the smooth operation of the clerking function.
Working closely with advocates, legal draftsmen and management team, you will ensure instructions are processed efficiently, hearings are appropriately listed and allocated, and clients receive an exceptional level of service.
This role requires excellent organisational skills, strong commercial awareness, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced legal environment.
The role is paying £30,000-£35,000 plus 29 days holiday (plus bank holiday) amongst other good benefits including private healthcare.
Essential experience
- A minimum of three years' experience in a similar clerking role within a barristers' chambers, law firm or legal services organisation.
- Proven experience managing court diaries and legal listings.
- Experience receiving, allocating and managing legal instructions.
- Experience liaising with courts, clients, solicitors and legal professionals.
- Experience working within a busy, deadline-driven legal environment.
- Demonstrable ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
Desirable
- Knowledge of civil, family and/or criminal court procedures.
- Understanding of advocacy practice and barristers' clerking.
- Experience supporting barristers, advocates or solicitor advocates.
Essential technical skills:
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience using legal case management and diary management systems.
- Accurate data entry and record management skills.
- Ability to prepare reports and maintain performance data.
