A leading insurance company based in the City is looking for an IFRS17 Data / Business Analyst to join its expanding team.
This is an initial 3 to 6 month contract paying £450 - £500 per day based on experience and will have responsibility for delivering data specification contracts to the development team. Experience with data-driven regulatory projects in the insurance sector is essential, ideally with exposure to Solvency 2, GDPR and IFRS initiatives. You will have experience of insurance transactional data as well as best practice data governance.
Duties will include;
- Gathering and documenting data for IFRS17;
- Defining primary and secondary data sources
- Specifying data processing/conforming requirements (including data enrichment/alignment)
- Locate and suggest alternative data sources for correction of data issues/problems
- Track the E2E journey of the data.
- Work closely with Finance, Actuarial and IT team leads, process owners, SMEs, developers and data specialists to document data sourcing/processing requirements for IFRS17 data preparation
- Produce technical documentation describing data sourcing requirements, processing and controls
- Identify and document manual and system controls as required to manage the sourcing of IFRS17 data
- Facilitate provision of requirements to both developers and business staff for downstream development & testing, including:
- Define test requirements and expected test outcomes
To be considered suitable you will need the following;
- Experience of data delivery within a data-driven regulatory programme
- Comfortable with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies in delivery approach
- Good understanding of Finance / insurance processes in Lloyd’s Syndicates including:
- Experience working with accounting functions, systems and processes (preferably with a finance function in Lloyd’s Market)
- Have an understanding of core accounting principles and ability to work with and advise Finance & Actuarial data SMEs
- Demonstrable knowledge of data sourcing, extraction, transformation & load, knowledgeable about challenges experienced and resolved with data, data marts, pre-processing of data and loading into third-party tools hosted on the cloud infrastructure. Key skills include:
- Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst, with ability to gather data through analysis, meetings and facilitating workshops
- Experience with data analysis tools and the use of relational databases. This includes understanding relational data models, database design/development, data validation, data linkage, data cleansing, and data enrichment techniques. Data mining and segmentation techniques is also useful
- This includes exposure to:
- MS SQL Server, and SQL query development
- Preliminary analysis/modelling via Excel
- Data APIs and database/file data transfer / XML
- Business intelligence and analytics platforms - QlikView, Crystal Reports
