A well-established accountancy firm is looking for a highly accomplished Qualified Accountant with outstanding audit and compliance skills, coupled with proven practice experience, to join its leadership team, based in Wimbledon, south west London. Please note that my client embraces flexible working so applications are welcome from candidates who would like to work from home primarily but have the flexibility to attend client meetings and/or the office 2 or 3 days per month.
As Head of Accounts & Audit, you will hold critical responsibility for the effective operations of the compliance unit and the delivery of high value, advanced accounting services to a variety of clients across a range of industries. You will maintain client relationships and charge for advice, guidance and submissions.
In this role you will manage the compliance team and deliver an exceptional accounting service to a portfolio of key clients. Internally, you will allocate work, manage deadlines, share knowledge, coach the team, improve communication and foster collaboration. Externally, you will attend regular client meetings to discuss financial statements, corporation tax planning, cash flow and business continuity planning, fulfilling an advisory role for key growth clients across a range of commercial issues. You will deal with technical queries, identify new service opportunities, negotiate fees, and deliver an integrated and insightful service to all clients.
In order to be suitable for this business critical role you must be:

A proven technical expert with comprehensive accounting and commercial knowledge gained in practice

A fully qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA) who can prepare and discuss management accounts/information with executives

A proven manager and relationship builder

An accountant with proven experience in: R&D tax claims, company valuations, corporate tax planning, business structuring and exit strategies, statutory financial reporting and business taxation
You will be expected to prepare, finalise and file statutory accounts under FRS102 1(A) and FRS 105, review, feedback and approve working papers and draft accounts prepared by junior colleagues, and identify tax planning opportunities, recommending appropriate strategies. In addition to this you will prepare Research and Development tax credit claims, prepare the valuations of companies for share schemes such as EMI, SEIS/EIS, and handle all routine enquiries raised by HMRC and assist in major investigations.
