We are seeking a qualified Management Accountant for our client, a well-established and successful organisation within the Leisure and Hospitality sector. This is a two-year fixed-term contract position and an excellent opportunity for a Finance professional who thrives in a hands-on, varied role and wants to make a genuine impact on financial operations. The role is offered on a hybrid basis with three days based at their offices, in the West Midlands, just south of Birmingham and two days home based.
Reporting to the Head of Finance you will take ownership of management accounts, month-end processes, reconciliations, VAT returns and compliance activities, while contributing to process improvement initiatives across the business. rewarding.
Key Responsibilities
Take ownership of monthly management accounts, financial reporting, and month-end close processes, including journals, accruals, and reconciliations. You'll prepare P&L statements, variance analysis, and balance sheet summaries while delivering clear financial commentary to support decision-making. The role involves leading the annual budgeting process, managing income reconciliations across multiple revenue streams, and ensuring accurate VAT treatment and compliance. You'll also play a key part in audit preparation, maintaining robust financial documentation, and driving process improvements across finance systems and controls. Experience with partial exemption VAT would be an advantage.
Key requirements
- Be fully qualified with ACCA, CIMA or ACA
- Experience within the leisure, hospitality or service industry desirable
- Familiarity with environments managing multiple income streams
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and complex formulas
- Knowledge of Accounting software (e.g. TechOne)
- Working knowledge of VAT principles
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex discrepancies
- High attention to detail and excellent organisational abilities
- Clear communicator, comfortable working with finance and non-finance colleagues
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
