A successful multinational technology business is looking for an accomplished Technical Author to join its growing team. The business embraces flexible and hybrid working so you will be able to work from home 3 or 4 days per week, with the expectation that you will from an office in Manchester, Birmingham or London 1/2 days per week depending on your location/preference.  

The successful candidate will lead a small team of Technical Authors on exciting projects and will be responsible for ensuring that technical documentation is clear, concise and easy to read. This will include revising and updating existing documents, as well as creating brand new web-based content for customer help guides and product descriptions.

Working with enterprise-scale products, you will help to create in-depth manuals, endeavouring to present highly complex information in a user-friendly and straightforward fashion. In addition to consummate communication skills and first-class attention to detail you will have a proven track record of writing complex documents for a technical or academic audience.

You will plan and implement appropriate original and updated documentation for new and enhanced products in various formats (HTML, Eclipse plug-in, Markdown, PDF etc.) that is clear, concise, complete, free from technical and grammatical errors, and compliant with the company style guide. You will develop a good understanding of the products being documented and will work with the developers to ensure that the micro copy in product interfaces and error messages is clear, consistent, and uses terminology that the target audience will understand.

Experience with DITA and Oxygen XML Author is essential. In addition to this knowledge of migrating documentation from FrameMaker to DITA and knowledge of markup languages (HTML, Markdown) is highly desirable.
