The Prize’s mission is to unleash urgent optimism and action through storytelling and spotlighting eco-innovators around the world.
The Earthshot Prize is now looking for a Director of Media to play a critical role in delivering this extraordinary vision. In this hugely exciting and incredibly important position, you will have the opportunity to shape the overall media relations strategy, making the Prize and the Finalists globally famous, generating worldwide optimism and action as a result.
Reporting directly to the Chief Content Officer, you will be responsible for generating interest and awareness in the Prize, as well as profiling the Finalists and their world saving solutions. This includes developing earned media strategies, building high-profile relationships with international media outlets, and creating a small but mighty internal press office function. You will partner with colleagues to deliver against a focused content and media relations campaign, building on the extraordinary success of the team and taking it to new levels, with the overall aim of repairing and regenerating the planet by 2030.
To be suitable for this role of significant responsibility you must have proven experience of developing compelling and highly impactful media strategies which excite and engage a global audience across multiple channels. Your experience will include leading and inspiring a busy and high-profile media relations team, developing materials that work across print, broadcast, digital, radio and social media channels.
Combining a deep understanding of the international news agenda with a track record of maximising media and press coverage, you will conceptualize, package, and deliver content that resonates with global outlets. You will be recognised for your discretion, creativity, capability, meticulous eye for detail and professionalism and will demonstrate considerable experience managing and developing media partnerships.
You will design and implement a truly global and inclusive media relations and engagement strategy that continues to position The Earthshot Prize as the most prestigious and ambitious environmental platform globally. You will develop diverse media plans and bring attention to Earthshot Winners and Finalists in their regions, building interest and excitement in the lead-up to the annual awards ceremony.
You will develop strong, surprising and innovative partnerships across media networks in key international markets to deliver earned media coverage year-round, following the calendar of the Prize and will take a lead role in designing and shaping earned content (from narratives, press notices, articles, op-eds and speeches) to further the reach of the Prize, the success of the Winners, and the partnerships which underpin the project.
Overseeing the creative media strategy you will collaborate with the content, brand and digital teams to create high impact stories. You will work across multiple mediums and channels to deliver media moments that inspire and will build new media partnerships in support of the brand and its compelling story. Always alert to reputational risk you will display good judgment in selecting partners and will be adept at issues management and crisis communications.
