A leading London law firm is seeking a Data Analyst to provide analytical support for the development and use of the firm’s case management system (run on Inprotech).
The firm’s system is highly integrated with their processes and continued accurate and reliable operation is business-critical, requiring careful analysis of the impact of changes before they are implemented.
This role is paying up to £35,000 plus very good benefits. This will be an office based role (Central London, near Chancery Lane).
Responsibilities
- Working with a small number of partners of the firm who created the configuration of the system to take over knowledge of the configuration and to maintain the firm’s records of the configuration.
- Providing careful analysis of results from a database analysis tool to assess the impacts of proposed system configuration changes.
- Managing the process of testing and implementing regular data updates.
- Managing the process of testing major system upgrades to verify that the upgrades do not introduce system-critical bugs.
- Providing support for ad hoc data cleanses, including commissioning and testing scripts created by IT colleagues.
- Providing the first point of contact for colleagues involved in fee earning activities
- Supporting development of processes in the fee earning and business support communities, especially to increase automation based on Inprotech data
Required Skills and Qualities
- Extremely conscientious about details – the role will require careful testing and checking of work done by others to a business critical system.
- Able to analyse data, make logical deductions about the causes of issues seen in the data and report these clearly to relevant stakeholders
- Able to pick up new concepts quickly and ask questions with confidence to ensure a thorough understanding of everything required to be effective in the role – there are few Inprotech configuration experts in the country so little is available in the way of formal training in the system.
- Independent thinker, prepared to challenge received wisdom purposefully and tactfully and provide constructive criticism of the work of others
Prior understanding of Inprotech is not required.
Educational Requirements
- Engineering, maths or science degree
- Evidence of academic ability, including school grades
Accountability and Key Relationships
The Analyst’s primary reporting line will be to the firm’s Partner responsible for the Inprotech system. Relationships with the firm’s other business support functions will be key to success in the role. The Data Analyst will need to develop good working relationships with members of the IT, Formalities and Finance teams, whilst retaining an independent perspective on the role of the system in supporting those aspects of the firm’s operation.
